Netflix Account Hacked
We discovered last night that our Netflix account had been hacked. The discovery was accidental because the hacker(s) happened to be tuned in at the same time and we got an error saying we needed to turn one screen off before another could be used. With a bit of ace detective work I logged onto Netflix site and found that there is an activity report available for the account going back some months. This showed access from Uruguay and the US on many occassions so I rang Netflix to give them the heads up, I don't suffer but it goes against the grain to allow freeloaders to use my money. Initially they offered me more screen access at additional cost which I declined and after that I went through what I had done and what they could do to get rid of the freeloaders. I then did a bit more investigating after getting off the phone and it turns out that selling Netflix passwords is an international sport for about $1 each. I suggest anyone using Netflix use a unique password as their security does not seem top notch.

How do you get the activity report? My wife had problems with viewing netflix tonight and after reading this I thought I would log in and take a look.

Pearo,
go to the dropdown menu in the top right, select "Your Account" then click on viewing activity.

Only just new to Netflix, a bit of downtime recovering from some surgery. When we started we logged in and all was fine for the month, last week on 3 occasions we had to log in to watch anything. Our son has it at his place and mentioned this had happened to him a few times also.
Will check the activity log you mentioned. We only have the modem on during the day and switch it off at night when finished, this hopefully could make it a little more difficult for hackers.Regards,
Bob

Just checked mine. Logins from Russia and Sth America. Logged everyone off and changed password.
Interesting as my password is reasonably complex.

Leaving the modem off has no effect Bob.

They have the password and email address so your equipment is not involved at all. The connection they make is direct from them to Netflix using only your sign on credentials.
