Refinishing table top
Hi all, Long time since I was laast on the forum.
Hoping someone may have some advice for me. I am trying to find a way to remove what I understand is tung oil which has been "coated" on the top of a veneered table top about 3 metres x 1.5 meters by using a paint roller. Unfortunately instead of following the instructions of removing after a few minutes by wiping with a cloth it has been left to dry. The result is a streaky uneven lumpy finish which can be scratched off using a finger nail. I tried sanding using 240 grit paper but it obviously it just blocked up. Any ideas please short of sanding everything off.
Thanks and good to be back

Hi Allan,
What happens if you try wetting the surface with White Spirit or Citrus Terpene, then try removing the oil with steel wool? Try soaking the table with the diluent then try the steel wool.
Regards,
Rob
