    Default We learn every day

I have just changed my old 15" monitor to an almost new 17". It cost $70.00.

The change is tremendous. I like it. Maybe, one day, when I am rich I will buy one of those flat screen ones.

Now, the 15" had a shake in it, it has had for a couple of years. I asked at a technology centre how much to repair it. I was told it would cost $70.00 to have a look and extra if it was fixable, no full quote available.

I loaded up the 17" one and guess what, It had a shake in it.

The set up was the same as it always has been on my computer desk.

Trying to think of causes I recalled that with my stereo set up I had the speakers close to the TV. A red magnetic glow used to show on each corner of the TV set even if the stereo was not on.

Using this thought I looked around my monitor. On the right hand side, where the shake was most prominent, I had a transformer for the scanner and a mobile phone charger.

I removed these devices and Whalla!! no shake.

I reckon that my 15" would prove the trick so I hooked it up and, yes , No shake. All that blooming eye strain for nothing.

I am also told, now that everyone else is an expert, that the magnetic field of the earth will sometimes affect a monitor.

Happy to hear about the end of your monitor troubles. But does the new one make pancakes?

One other thing that makes a big difference to a monitor is the refresh rate. It should be 75Hertz minimum, 60 Hertz is too low. Properties/Settings/Advanced/Monitor/Screen Refresh Rate.
