Vale STURDEE. A sad day.
Michelle Jurrjens, daughter Sturdee sent me the below message informing of Peter's passing early this morning. Michelle asked me to inform the forum in the most appropriate way possible and I think the most appropriate way possible, in her message to me below.
To Michelle and the rest of the family I convey my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Peter. A good man and well-respected member of these forums. May he rest in peace, meet with many old friends and be welcomed with open arms into the big workshop that all good men and woodies gravitate to.
Neil
From Michelle:
Unfortunately, in the early hours of Wednesday 23rd February Dad passed away. He had quite a sudden decline in health and knowing that he had done all he could to take care of Mum and I, he went peacefully overnight.
He wanted me to send you a PM so that you could inform the forum 'his online family' of his passing. I know that he loved all the banter, information and friendly get-together's that he had been a part of through the years, although with Covid and his declining health he wasn't as able to participate as much as he wanted, nor was he able to do much woodworking either. He loved being able to read everyone's messages to his last post and has encouraged myself, Mum and my Sister to read them too.
Thank you for your support over the years, and please feel free to inform the forum in the most appropriate way possible, thanking everyone for their support and kind messages especially in these last weeks. He didn't get out of bed much, but he made sure that he could access the forum almost to the end!
Many thanks,
Michelle Jurrjens

Very sorry to hear the news and pass on my best to Peters family.
I was getting a little worried after reading Peters recent messages and the speed of decline.
It was a strange feeling reading and replying to that thread, but also comforting to know that we could say our thanks and goodbyes to Peter which hopefully gave him some comfort and encouragement. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. From Michelle:
Dad's wishes for his funeral was to just have a simple cremation and for the core family to scatter his ashes into Port Philip Bay because as he said "I came by the water and I'll leave by the water" We will be honouring his wishes and thus we won't be having any public funeral.

It's always sad to hear of someone's passing. For me, they're always too young.
To Michelle and your family, your world has seemed to be stuck in time as the rest of the world continues around you and it's hard to believe your Dad isn't around. Hold his memory close to you and never let go.
