Default Largest Red Cedar Slabs in existance that we know about

We processed the old dead cedar log today.

Got slabs up to 1.9 metres wide in some sections and 3 to 4.5metres long, quite few around 1.5+

I will never see slabs of this size again in my lifetime....... then again I am getting on a bit.....

The pictures tell (part) of the story

    Regards

    Greg

Very impressive indeed, I am sure you are going to be sought after for these. I wish like many others I had access to them.

    That's amazing!

I'd love to come down and have a look at them just to be amazed.

Beautiful. Does this mean a new table at the Ward residence at some point in the future? Got to keep a souvenir somehow... I screwed up a few years back, cut a real special one and sold the whole lot ( albeit at a price that reflected what they were). Been kicking myself ever since, for I doubt I'll ever see anything like it again

How many thousands could you charge for each slab?

You'd need a pretty flash looking place to make a slab table look like it fits in.

A Musical song comes to mind right now "If I were a Rich Man"

I'd build a houseful of furniture starting with an oval extendible dinning table.

I guess my 2.4m diameter log doesn't count as we had to rip a .900 wing off it to fit it through the 1.540 band saw. Couldn't bring myself to use the Lucas with such a wide curf.

I would not be shocked to learn those are the widest EVER seen. I mean, imagine trying to saw those in a pit saw. Just would have been near impossible and old timey sawyers would be unlikely to felt the need to make slab boards like that.

    Fantastic photos. Thanks.

Unbelievable. How does one dry out those huge chunks, trying to ensure that they won't cup?

Lay out on a flat surface, all together with cleats between, a huge 25mm thick steel plate, then park your semi trailer on top?
