13 February, 1984 I first regisdered Hilux 4-door 1.8lt, manual, petrol, two wheel drive. It's travelled 113597 km and other than service costs I've spent less than $1000 on it and that includes one new set of tyres.
Is it 'run-in' yet?????
Shep - I, too, have a radio and it has ONE station.
I don't like travelling in the ute any more - the law says I have to wear a leash and the boss gets niggly when I bark at the other cars :D

I have a 1999 ford courier and a ford F350 4x4 both on LPG
2002 Hilux 2wd with an extended aluminium tray. Have done 85,000km; had to replace a front gearbox bearing at 70000 (warranty period plus one day :( )
Spent $1200 fitting boxes to the back and underneath - VERY happy with the boxes setup. Also have ladder racks I can put on if needed. Other than the bearing it has run like a dream.
1999 Rodeo, single cab, drop side, 2.8L turbo diesel 4wd. (all my work vehicles for the last 10+ years have been 4wds, always handy when trying to access a new house on fresh earthworks:rolleyes: )

Thats what i did with my 1996 Frontera, removed the rear seats and built a big box in the back with lift up covers. Stuck some Rhinorack roof racks on and i can carry 6 18mm 1200*2400 sheets of MDF on any more then the roof creeks to much.
Planning on changing it this year as it has got 230,000 on it now.
I have a 04 BA Falcon ute.......bought it this time last year with 8000ks on the clock. My first new or near new car...........have added about 37000 ks in the 12 months so will be looking for another in 6 months or so.
Had a HR for a while, now have a 2.7ltr '05 Hilux Workmate.

The Navara seems popular nowadays, the new Triton seems to be making larger inroads in to the market. The new Hilux I can't take seriously.
Chief hates large wagon 4x4s so its my way of keeping a useful 4x4.

Its not a ute but my work vehicle is a 97 nissan patrol waggon, compromise between a work vehicle for heavy towing and the family car. just because its the work vehicle doesnt mean i dont take it out to play on the weekends when i get the chance. it will tow a 2.5 tonne trailer for work and carry 7 people (more at a pinch - just dont tell DanP or he will come up from victoria to get me :D :D :D :D :D )
If i had a ute it would have to be an orange Triton with all the accessories;) ;) ;)
Currently 98 Mazda Bravo 2.6 tray top duel fuel with ladder racks... good work horse no aircon but. I know it'll carry one of those wood packs that Emac organised from Lismore(1.2Ton, construction pack)
Ute before the Maz, falc BA 5.4 V8 auto style side... had all the mod cons plus a few enhancements of my own which made it very impractical!(was the very 1st V8 ba ute in SA... XR8 wasnt released yet... only would have cost an extra $1000!) Would you beleive I traded it in on a Focus 2ltr 6speed hatch, from one end of the scale to the other.
And the ute before that was a Falc XH'2 V8 S'pac with all the mod cons... plus my enhancements, was good ute should have not traded it on the BA Id be about 40-50K richer right now if I just kept that XH... not counting the fuel difference(ba used double the xh)
My ideal ute would be a small 2-3ton truck with a 4-5m tray!

2004 Navara DX, no poofy STR for me. I like the vinyl floor covers and the wind up windows, electric windows annoy me. Canopy, roof racks drawers for tools etc.... 77,000kms, good bus!

my 2nd last ute was a Triton GLX 2.4 4X2 tray ute. Sold it when I got Commodore Berlina fleet car for work.
Then bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Challenger 4x4 asy retirement present. All the bells and whistles in and out including electric brakes for towing really big stuff and 10 stack CD and really big fat all terrain tyres. I love it. Would really lerve a Ford F350.

My dogs are of the belief that the vehicle is theirs and is specifically for the purpose or taking them for rides. When I am not chaffuering canine passengers,I sometimes get to use it for going to school and the week end trips to the hardware shops.The trayback is big enough to take a 8 x 4 sheet.
The ute before that was a TATA Telcoline 2 litre diesel turbo. In the four years I owned from new it averaged once every 72 days in the repair shop.The Indians have yet to understand automotive terms like build quality,reliability and customer satisfaction.If you are considering the purchase of one of these Indian automotive disasters PM me immediately and I will regale with tales of misery and woe regarding these sad examples of mobile scrap iron.Truly these things are lemons.

Holden (Isuzu) Rodeo, two wheel drive single cab. Think it's a 96 model, turbo diesel and she cops a flogging. Poor girl has been known to have a one tonne machine on the tray whilst towing another one and a half tonne on the trailer. :eek: Good ute but I wish she had a sixth gear for freeway travelling. Not fun driving to Melbourne in a diesel with the engine constantly around 3250rpm.
Also have a 2003 Toyota Hilux 4x4 Dual Cab, 3.0l diesel. Nimble footed, comfortable (compared to Rodeo), tows well. Has fun on weekends ;). Just wish she was turbo....imagine driving to Queensland towing over two tonnes of machinery. Slow trip.
