The Deck

Well, after the trials and tribulations of the home reno....the deck was finally waterproofed and oiled on the weekend.

All of the bearers that were used were once the bearers on the patio on the house before the reno and were well over 40 years old.

The boards are all reeded jarrah, laid flat side up.

If you can guess the decking oil used 5 greenies will come your way.... take your best shot.

NOTE: Both landseka and Ptrott are exempt from this challenge and any mailing or PM ing of aforesaid parties will void your entry........and a reddie will result.

One thing , why didn't you stagger your joins? I always do when laying floorboards or decking . Maybe your a brickie!!!!

"Wood-man's Timber Finishes" a water based oil from Bunno's.
I dont think this would be correct though as it has a honey color to it. But it is good stuff.

To me, a chippy by trade , the butt joints look NICELY staggered in a tradesmanlike manner. What oil? who gives a rats, the joints look GREAT!

Feast Watson Decking Oil??

Used it at Dad's and the finish looks similar.

Thanks to all that had a try.....

The majority of the timber is under cover but we do get a fair bit of wind down this way.

A good mate of mine suggested a couple of products (thanx Phill) so i thought i would try them out on a couple of similar colored pieces of jarrah i had in the shed.
I was very impressed with the finish, even tho the product isnt generally recognised as a decking oil.

The product i used was this stuff......the waterseal was used as the first coat and the Penetrol as the second.
