The extra amount of water I 'waste' by 1/2 flushing, is absolutely nothing compared to the amount of water I've discovered a washing machine uses each wash. Was horrified to discover just how much each load takes, although my garden is now a lot happier!
Depends on:
how full/empty my water tank is, which depends on:
how much/little rain we've had.
Generally I don't need to resort to not flushing, but when we first moved into our place we had a tank that was nearly empty, no rain for a long time and an inoperational bore pump so we had to be very tight with the water. Mostly I'm just careful with it and conscious of usage. I don't generally check the tank unless we've had more than a month with no rain.

Ta, up here we have HEAPS of water so we don't give a rat's ring. :-
We do realise that we are very, very lucky & we do have half flush dunnies.... we just press it twice 'cos we can. :D
We also have an all glass shower in the corner of the house & just stand in the shower for ages watching the world go by outside.... almost feeling guilty. :p

Our bogs are flushed with treated effluent, so I can flush a hundred times and the same water just goes around and around.

ALL of my grey water goes into an 8'x4'dia concrete culvert in the ground, this has been buried on its' end, a concrete bottom poured and a concrete lid on top. The outfall of my septic tank goes into it, in other words, ALL of my waste water. As I type this it is pumping out onto my vegie patch. Normally I would just water trees etc with it but since my bore dried up it is the only water I have for garden use. I shower with a bucket between my legs and that is used to flush the toilet.
How do your vegies taste?
