LIVE FROM Melbourne WWW Show!

The following photos are from the Victorian Woodworkers Association stand. I took quite a few but will only be able to post those where the makers details are visable; unfortunately, due to the lighting a lot of reflections on the plastic cards made them unreadable. My agreement with the VWA was that I would not post any where the makers details were not also presented.

I'll spotlight one individual who's work caught my eye. Alastair has spent time both in Japan and the USA. Their influences are apparent in his work.

Tomorrow, can you get a photo of the huge redgum burl table, the red gum place had. I forgot (Was too busy ogling the burl).

Any chance of some better shots of the small box in post #46 image 3 ..... the small pencil box which is in a glass case next to the cordless laptop ..... and possibly the three lamps made from rejected organ parts???????

Thanks. I was there today but unfortunately left the camera out of the bag and the photos on the phone are not great to say the least.

The work on display was the highlight of the show imho.

I saw this Victorian writing box on Wednesday in the closed configuration. It was very impressive closed and it wasn't until later I found out it was one of the writing boxes. Needs to be seen up close to really appreciate the workmanship.

The unusual piece is titled "Self Portrait with Pigeon Hole" by Bryan Poynton.

I've got a shot of the lamps but can't post them because the label cannot be read. I'll go back tomorrow and get the three of them for you.

And yes, this work was the highlight. There is some great talent around.

Yeah, he does amazing stuff. That said, the big Camphor bowl just doesn't ring my chimes ... the proportions and the ridge.

Was very impressed with the writing box, we have a family heirloom, passed down the generations, that is very similar to that. The workmanship on this one is superb, thanks for posting the pictures Groggy:2tsup: I was mildly p****d off as I had forgotten my digital camera (again!).

SWMBO has asked me to ask you for a favour.
She wanted a picture of that beautiful music stand and of course I didn't bring the camera. Would it be possible for you to post a picture? She would really appreciate that.
