While we're on the subject of Mel Brooks' movies (and the man is a genuine comic genius), one of my other favourites is "History of the World - Part 1".
Mel himself takes a number of parts, including King Louis the Umpteenth of France. Quote: "It's good to be the King!"

Why is it that some of his best movies don't click? Must be a narrow market for warped minds. I'm pleased to say that my son has inherited his old man's diseased sense of humour. The first time he saw "Blazing Saddles" he came close to wetting himself. He was about seven or eight at the time and his appreciation has only grown as he has come to understand some of the gags that went over his head when he was a little fella.
