looks like I will be keeping my 3 mtr & 5 mtr wooden extention ladders for a whioe longer I think :-)

If you don't mind me asking, what model ladder was it? Was it the one that converts from A frame to long ladder?

The ladder was a Bailey Aluminium ladder that folded out and locked into place via 2 "locking levers" that fitted over "nipples" on either side of the ladder. The problem was that the levers need to be pushed very hard to "click" into the nipples. If you do not push hard enough, the levers look and feel as though they are locked in correctly but aren't.

I saw this as a design flaw and contacted Bailey but they were useless!

It was the model that converts from an A frame to a long ladder.

I spent a lot of my time dealing with Bailey as I felt that they had a design fault in their ladder. They sent somebody out to take a "report" and also took the ladder away so that their technical people could look at it. I told them that they should have a "sticker" on the lever reminding the user to press down hard...they did not think that that was a good idea.

At no stage did they show any concern that I was almost killed!

I eventually gave up and moved on....
