What gives me the ****s is these bloody adverts I get in my mail box promising BB at city prices and then stating "not available in all areas" well doh why put it in my letter box!
Apparently BB can only reach 3km from a exchange, in my town they reckon they need to install an extra 2 exchanges to cover the town(not ****** likely, not telstra anyway), just happens I live 3.1km from the exchange... and that Hibis scam wont cover my town :(
Adelaide/SA never get F all we are scum if you ask the eastern state polictical leaders.(we make great war ships and some of the worlds best wines tho)Quote:

This i know as i used to live in the Barrossa, ADSL should be able to reach 5km from the exchange though!!!! Speak to Telstra Country Wide and get them to check the line length, not sure how they do this:confused: , but the cable will tell them the length or so the techo's in Sydney say.
5km maybe ok on a newer exchange, ours is meseum piece, I reckon its still got 1980's Telecom badges on it!Quote:

yep had them techo's check many times, bit like Bart Simpson "Bsst... ouch Bsst... ouch Bsst... ouch"
But you live in Port Pirie, if you had flash stuff what would the neighbours think!!!!!!!!! Been to the Telstra exchange in Pirie a few times, not a bad place.......What you need to do is log on to the Telstra country Wide site every second day with all of your neighbours phone numbers and address and request broadband, from what i understand when they get around 80 requests they will upgrade the exchange.
p.s. i never told you this
Not that I'm trying to draw any connections here. Not that I'm suggesting that money could ever affect decisions made by someone as independant as Telstra. But ...
Broadband wasn't available here (in the suburbs). In fact, the best I could do on dial up was 28kps. Then, about 300m away, a MASSIVE retirement village opened for business ... and broadband was magically available
My sister, also in the burbs, couldn't get broadband and was told it'd be three years away (standard reply). So she complained to her member of parliament ... and got broadband within the month
Richard
I've got to stop being so cynical, it gives me indigestion
Yup been there done that and they have way more that 80 requests... every person I know has registered
I dunno maybe Im just a bit grumpy this morning... just knocked off from my 6th 12hr nightshift in a row!(2 OT's and 4 normal night shifts, need money for Adel WWshow as new thicknessor and drum sander on their way!)
Bloody luxury, sheer bloody luxury…. then lines up the road on our hill have PMG signs & pits....Quote:
