angle between tiles and carpet -gap?

Do I lay the tiles dead flat against the angle or do i leave a gap for grout between the tiles and angle?

Also if im starting my ist row at the angle..... could i use this as a straight edge to run the whole show off----> if i get it straight enough?

Im laying slate so spacers will be about 10mm and done by eye anyway so its no big deal if its not perfect....
