I'm using Tasmanian Oak. I am using u-beaut sanding sealer then after fine sanding Cabot's oak interior stain then their Danish Oil. Before second coat of oil I again fine sand. What is the best way of removing the very fine dust. Is a rag dampened with meth the best option?
A Tack cloth is specifically used for that purpose. You should be able to pick one up at a good supplier or even Bunnies but not sure if they have them or not.

a tacky cloth that dust adheres to. Used to get that very stuborn dust out from the grain of timber
If the oak is has open pores, then you can just apply the oil over the dust. Some of the dust will fill the pores and the rest will wipe off with the exess oil. You must wipe the oil before it becomes very tacky. I use this on American white and red oak. It helps your finish take on a mirror look. Taken from Bob Flexner's book, Understanding Wood Finishing: How to Select and Apply the Right Finish. It is a great book!

Go to Bunnings or a good Paint Dealer and ask for a "TACK CLOTH" to remove surface dust on the end grain of timber before finishing. Get in touch with Australian WoodWorker to get a leaflet by Les Miller on finishing for $8 GREAT HELP. Short term dilute estapol by 20% in small amount get a clean cloth dip in and wring out to use , store in sealed container........
