Gday from Tassie.
Gday everyone.
Just a quick post to say hello.My name is David,I am interested in guitar making,and I am thinking of having a go at woodturning in the near future.I currently work as a machine setter at a car component factory,before that I spent twenty years as a boilermaker welder.
I live in Legana which is just outside Launceston,and finally have a workshop of my own so I can get stuck in to some decent projects.
All the best....David.

Hi David, welcome aboard mate.

hi David
is there a woodturners guild or similar near you. These blokes make learning really easy and are very helpful.
They tell good stories as well;
"I was wearing an onion on my belt, which was the style of the time,..."

Hi David, welcome to the forums. Look into mens sheds & community sheds if you're interested in joining a woodworking club, i'm a member of the Deloraine community shed where we have a couple of lathes & some guys that are always happy to give pointers.
Just a quick free plug for the shed, we meet tuesday - friday from 9am to 2pm. Great bunch of guys & we have a great co-oridinator whos had over 40yrs experence in the industry. We also have quite a respectable range of tools available to use.

Thanks for the welcome,the Tamar Woodwoorkers Guild in Exeter is only about 10 minutes from my place,they run woodturning courses in conjunction with adult education,so if I do buy a lathe I will certainly be signing up.
Once again thankyou for the welcome,and I look forward to being a member of this forum.
