Skylights or Domelights?

Hi. We are planning on installing skylight in our renovated kitchen. We already got a second-hand rectangular skylight but someone told us that this will bring too much heat into the house (we live in Cairns). We were told that Domelight will be better up here. Has anyone got an advice about which we should use and how they compare in effectiveness and costs?
