Merbau bench seats

Hi all, need some advice.

I am now working on my other projects around my deck (water feature and bench seats). I have boxed up my framework for my bench seats but cant decide whether I should leave a 3mm gap between the 90mm decking boards or have them hard up against each other.

I have used 140mm merbau with 3mm gaps on the deck so should I continue the theme with a 3mm gap on the bench seat?
