existing carport attached to house - want to enclose - suggestions

Hello all

We have an existing roofed carport that runs the length of our house and is attached to the facia board on one side and posts beams on the other. We need to enclose part of this space to create a cage for a cat, but still want to be able to park cars there as well, so we want to put in privacy screens and gates.

The width of the carport is 4120mm from the house to the posts, so we are looking at putting in extra posts for the gates and then connecting the privacy screen from these posts to the house and the existing posts of the carport.

How can we do this as we understand you cannot connect a post to the rafters?
