External window shade/security roller shutters?

Hi, Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has installed shade/security roller shutters to the exterior of the window. Does anyone (esp. in Melbourne) have a good supplier and how has your experience been with the supplier and the product? Also, some of my windows are quite high up, as the house is on a slope - would any of you know if such shutters are operable from a distance below the window eg. by a cable/rope? Lastly, any indication of the cost would be helpful.
