How far to dig?

I am waterproofing with Crommelin Brick/Render sealer a old brick wall that forms the foundations of our house. I have dug below the ground line some 4-5 bricks down and the foundations are still going... How far should I dig??

The purpose is to seal the wall to stop moisure from the earth sitting against it. As I dig down, the ground is so incredibily wet!!

I am also installing a rubble drain along side the house.
