Rates of pay

I'm interested in finding out a bit more about actual, as opposed to award or any other commonly quoted figure, rates of pay for certain positions.

Labourers (skilled)
Electricians
Supervisors

All the above are for employees on 36.75 hour week, 4 weeks leave, paid sick leave etc. Overtime is always paid when required to be worked.

It's the labourers I'm interested in more than anything since there's a wide range of rates that seem to be out there, some triple that of others.

My location is Tas but anything anywhere comparable (NOT WA and Qld mines which are a very different employment market) would be interesting to know.

Reason for asking. I'm not the manager (I'm the supervisor) but part of my role covers pay etc. There's so much info out there that I'm getting lost as to what is correct and what is not.

Sydney sparkies - from 48k to 70k+ approx. A supervisor/foreman would likely get 10k more than the normal elecs.
On top of that they often get fares allowance of $2.50p/h tax free, or a van supplied with toll /fuel card.

A mobile phone is pretty standard - I haven't had a personal mobile for over 10 years.

Site allowance is common when working on construction sites, although this might become less common these days.

I would be interested in rates for other areas. Sydney is a $hithole. It is too cut throat/fast paced for my liking..

Simple Smurf, if you're one of those guys who believes in a fair days pay for a fair days work just contact the Hobart office of the Electrical Trades Union and ask for a copy of the Award rates.
Builders labourers in Tas can earn between 18 bucks (miserable) to 35 bucks (fair) an hour.
The dfifficulty in Tasmania at the moment is that the building boom shows no sign of abating unlike on the mainland where there is a notable slowing in the industry. What we have seen in Tassie is market driven rates due to scarcity of skilled and semi-skilled labour. As the mainland markets slow down we will get an influx of mainland tradies looking for work which will force rates down again.
Just park near the Spirit Termninal on a Friday night and count the dozens of mainland tradie vehicles going back to Melbourne for the weekend. They come back Sunday night.

PS: My sparkie - an independant contractor- (a mate) charged me 60 bucks an hour- his normal rate is 75 bucks an hour or part thereof.
I did some reno work ( complete new bathroom) for a mate and charged him 25 bucks an hour (i'm not a tradie but a reasonably skilled woodie) and he was more than happy.

What type of labourers job?

My job basically is a labouring job, but not in the building trade Im in the mining industry.(lead refinery)
I work 12hr 4 on 4 off shifts, average is a 42hr week get 17 shifts annual leave(just under 5 weeks)unlimited sick leave... within reason, I earn $27.50per hour, I dont get penalty rates as im on a annualised wage they are already factored in, we do get double time for overtime.
And we work all public holidays... 24hrs a day 365 days a year!

Look up your state award online on top of that their is allowances for site work and so on

No one I know of works for the award Wage it is crap and with the shortage of skilled tradies you will not get anyone to work for you unless they are an apprentice

Industrial Sparks have it way over their Contracting counterparts most electricians I know in the Factory workshop on shift work are on anyhtin between $80 -$120k per annum whilst you contacting blokes working would be on round $50k-$80k working their backsides off whilst the factorey sparks workers play cards!

Supervisors on anthing between $5k and $10k more than their Blokes!!

Skilled Labourers $25 bucks per hour for Skilled and or Trades Assistants

I have been a industrial maintenance sparky, and it is not all beer and skittles...

Thats correct AV Elec the sparkys at my work are flat out and I dont think many would earn more than $75~80K.
They work in shitfull conditions too.

Where did you source this information from?
The etu contracting award in Vic is higher I thought than almost every site agreed etu maintenance award( excluding oil perhaps)
We also have a 36 hr week which I'm not to sure the maintenance guys get.
I can assure you if we work shift which we do from time to time we get the penalty rates as well
Its not fair to compare a blokes day shift wage to anothers afternoon /night shift/rotating shift wage.
That like comparing apples and bananas

Im a contracting sparkie in vic and Im about $5k more than the blokes that work for me (I'm a leading hand)on an etu eba award with a an agreed leading hand allowance.
It also depends where you do maintenance.
Some guys do horrid tasks in maintenance one day and play games on pc's the next I know but then when it hits 35 they stay at work and we go home!
Like i did last monday (not to sure)? Thursday and Friday between 12 and 2 pm and get paid the full day.
We don't work like dogs in construction we just do a fair days work for a fair days pay.Thats all I expect from my blokes anyway.As long as your honest and have a crack at it and don't stand around all day hiding/waiting to go to smoko and lunch and playing beep beeps on your dumb phone you'll have your job for a good while.
Oh and we get travel and fares and a construction allowance and site allowance as well which many maintenance guys wouldn't.

Anyone know how much Roof Plumbers earn on average per hour or per week?

On a construction site with eba rates about the same as a sparky give or take $50.
Its a ???? of job though unless you want skin cancer and love putting in pop rivets and dicking round with silicon.
The big jobs pay the big dollars but you have massive tasks like putting in hundred upon hundred of rivets and sealing each and every one with a dob of silicon!
