a small deck problem

Yes I know, its not the size of the deck that counts. Nor am I looking for posts of how BIG your deck is, there is no deck envy here, I dont have a problem with the size of my deck.... but I do have a question on decking.
After an extension, I have a treated pine deck. its obviously faded to the old grey look, pretty quick, what does one reckon, the best thing to throw on it. the best thing, meaning, I dont really care about the deck, one day I will rip it out and throw fcs down and tile, but something that will look alright, wont run onto my laserlite sheets below and be ok for walking on.

To get it back to clean workable timber you'll need to clean it with a deck clean which of course means plenty of water and the possibilty of harming the laserlite underneath ( I don't know how deck cleaners react with laserlite). Then you gotta stain or oil it which in order to cover it well will mean drips onto the laserlite. If you don't care about it just leave it grey. Some designer told me that the greying off look is the in thing at the moment. ???????? to me but all tastes are different.

oiling a TP deck makes it look even more like treated pine than treated pine!

However you can stain it or colour it with a tinted oil like a merbau or redwood etc - bristol paint stores have treated pine samples (usually ) of feast watson products on TP to make it look like a HW deck.

BTW doc, while greying off is in in the architectural journals, its always a local hardwood they are allowing to weather, and NOT treated pine. treated pine greying off might be popular with the local hippies, but that s about the sum of it!

Sorry for slagging off treated pine - i for one think it outlasts others, but its rarely if ever chosen for its aesthetics qualities davo! ;) ;)

Oh BTW, I'm happy for you that your self esteem has overcom your deck size problems.

Is your wife happy with the size or your deck ?

you know, luckily, im just a single fella, my wife is the harley in the garage, she shuts up when i turn her off, she also sleeps next to my mistress, the husky 250 2 stroke, I have 2 kids, 1 red and one blue, i feed them once a day and run em around for an hour, they shut up when i tell em too. so I guess that makes me pretty lucky compared to some that i see. oh and im a plumber, so i guess im a multi millionaire to most people............ yeah right....
thanks for the advice fella's, i thought the deck wording might get a bit of a giggle anyway, i'll will ponderon the thought a little longer.
