Electrician costs

In the process of fixing up my garage so I can use the space for my workshop. Electrician quote was $350 for:

• Install a twin-batten fluoro light
• Replace a single-batten fluoro light with a twin-batten fluoro light
• Replace a sensor-light at the front door

I would need to supply all the new switches, and light fixtures. Would this seem reasonable? IMHO it seems a bit high for 2-3hrs work.

Seems a bit high to me - sparkies up this way generally charge a minimum of $100 an hour.

Get a few more quotes.

Get 3 quotes sounds like a very simple job!

Another electrician gave me a quote for $150, without replacing the sensor-light at the front door. I think I'll give him the green light to install the lights/switches next week. :biggrin2:

$150 sound a bit cheap to me
Make sure he is fully licensed and insured
If he is not and something goes wrong where do you stand????

Lic. no. is on his business card. He said $30 for the light switch/power outlet (Clipsal) and about $40 for the cable, etc. The rest I need to supply myself.

What questions should I ask him before I give him the greenlight?
