Bracing cut on frame wall
The place I'm renovating is actually made up of two separate living spaces existing under a single roof. While I wait to collect the cash to get proper advice and the parts to build an adjoining door, I have bashed a hole in the plaster and removed a noggin to provide a slot to move between. The noggin was loose and not doing much but I also cut a diagonal brace about a metre up from the floor. There is a perpendicular wall meeting my doorway-wall about 0.5M to the left on the other side of the wall, and another about 0.5M to the right on my side of the wall. It didn't occur to me until later that this brace might be important. My question is do I need to do something to brace the frame for the few weeks until the carpenter comes?
I hope all this makes sense. I've attached a picture - the arrow points to the wall where I've cut the hole. Cheers, Brett.
