Why is the fan on our ducted heating going on in summer?

We have a little dilemma at our place. We moved into this house six months ago. It has a Brivis Buffalo gas ducted heater which used to be controlled by a simple round controller. We thought that the newer electonic controller are more efficient so we purchased a Honeywell controller online and installed it ourselves. It can control heating and cooling but we have it linked up to the heating only and have it set to heat. We have evaporative cooling as well which we have really been using the last week or so with the hot weather. The thing is the fan of the ducted heating has been going on sometimes. Now this is probably a good thing since it is recirculating the air but I don't like not being in control of it - I want to know why it is happening. Any ideas?

It seems to go on when the evaporative heater is running and more when it is hotter.

The thermostat on the unit is set to kick in when the vents and unit reach a certain temperature (it thinks the gas is on). On hot days like today it reaches that temperature so the fan kicks in.

Just turn the fan switch off in the ceiling, that should stop it (turn it back on for winter though!).

So should we leave the fan on or not? I assume that it just helps the evaporative cooler by moving the air around. Is there any disadvantage to leaving the fan on?

Well, after I responded this morning I turned mine off. It just pumps hot air into the house; close the heat vents, turn the fan off and reset it all when the cold weather returns.

EDIT: For safety purposes, you may want to put a small tag on the heater control saying"Turn fan back on".
