pergola end beam fixing

new to forum building a pergola, how do i support my end beam ( south), can i just screw 10x100 batten screws into the end of my ledgers to support this beam. the ledgers are 185x42 screwed into brick. diagram attached

Is this for the roof framing? Will it be open to the elements, or clad?
