I have a workshop - that is on a separate 20amp circuit off my main board. The circuit within the shed is a common GPO, light circuit.
My question is, what is the likely size of the cable connection to my shed?
What would be the maximum amount of amps I could draw over this likely installed cable.

What is the distance from the switch board to the shed?
The cable is probably 2.5mm sq. you can draw up to the rating of the circuit breaker/fuse which is 20 amp.
If the shed is close to the house.... may be larger if it is further away.Quote:

10 amp, 15 amp and 20 amp circuits use 2.5mm2 cable. the difference is the number of points you can have on the various circuits. All use 20 amp breakers.
There are many variables that determine what each can carry.
My shed is about 15m from the main board.
My electrician used 6mm cable to run to the new shed and put a sub board in the shed with four circuits.
However, I requested this in case I want to run higher power (15a) equipment etc later.
If I just wanted a few GPOs I think he was just going to use 2.5mm.

At least 2.5mm. It could be a larger cable and a 20A breaker installed due to a number of reasons.Quote:
