John, that's a fairly rare snake known as a Steppl adder, named after a German herpetologist who visited Australia with a colleague, Herr Vinders. Between them they named and classified a number of Australian snakes. Probably the best known of these is the Vinder's green viper.
The Steppl adder has been known to take up residence in suburban houses, where it moves around between the ceiling cavity and the ground. The Vinder's green viper is often found on the bonnets of cars, and has surprised many motorists when it climbs onto the windscreen when they are driving.:D
Happy April 1st John
well whatever type of snake it was, it will give us no more trouble, except the wife is complaining about the mess up on the carpet.
