Renovation: Hallway to Pantry

I've attached a few pics of my current job for the boss, converting the old hallway into a pantry. The buffet unit in the picture will be removed so the entry will be straight through from the front door. An existing cupboard is removed from the kitchen to allow access to the pantry and there has been a fair amount of electrical work to get things right. Note the series of four powerpoints, they will be a charging center and there will be a small shelf under them to hold phones and other paraphernalia. We've also put in a water pipe for a new fridge while the plaster is off.

Work came to a standstill for three weeks after doing my back in so I am glad to be back into it again. I expect about another month before it is all finished with shelves etc.

The small cupboard that can be seen has a short wall at the back. This is so we can store heavy items on a thick shelf that will span from the top of the short wall to the top of the door frame. They will be accessed from the pantry behind the cupboard.

Sounds like a very-well thought out and designed pantry Groggy. :2tsup: Will be very interesting to see how it works out for you.

Did I say another month?

It's now June and I am finally getting somewhere. The small cupboard is almost complete, The pantry has just received its first undercoat and the entryway cupboard is gone. The entryway wall has been 'interesting' with a number of straightness issues (existing walls did not line up :rolleyes: ) but I think I have it hacked now. Just one more opening in the entryway to close off then I can paint it.

I have included a pic of a miter box I had to make for some of the unique angles and another of the pan-licker, who isn't keen on the dust.

This is the new cupboard the boss wanted in the dining room end of the old hallway.

The shelves are temporary until I can make some decent ones.

The new entry to the pantry needed the old cupboards removed. The wedge area at the back is for shelves.

You've got to preserve that mitre box forever.
And show it to every house builder you ever meet!!

here are a few inside. The wide angle doesn't let me show the whole thing, it isn't that big 3m x 1.2m (approx). The hole is over the small cupboard and has a ply base so the missus can put heavy stuff there.

There are four double power points for a charging center.

Flushing... I hate it and I've got heaps to do very soon!
Looks like the reno is coming along nicely.

Chose to use the metal rail system as it provides the most strength and has no support on the floor; something the missus was adamant about :rolleyes: .

Just putting a 5mm edging around all the shelves then I can get into the smaller shelves for the cans etc, plus the triangular shelf in the corner.
