I've had a great day

The nephews decided to come around for a visit today, while I was cleaning....... (not really cleaning, just re-orginising)........ the shed
Number 3 nephew(12) wanted to download a heap of songs from 'limewire' and burn them to a disk, while number 2 nephew(18) just wanted to chill

So I made Dan #2 nephew, help me take the old tin off and put a sheet of clear on the roof. (No more running the lights in the day for me:) ) So after we finished, Dan said he could do with a beer, I said you know where they are and we procedded to 'knock' a few over:D :D We spent a good couple of hours just shootin the breeze and muckin around with stuff in the shed. He wants to come back and make a few things, which is GREAT with me, the sooner the better.

We haven't (can't) got kids, so you guys and gals that have them must have some great times in the shed with them. It puts a whole new perspective on things.......it's great:2tsup:

Sounds like a really great day, Fred. How fantastic to have a young one interested.

Most of us lucky enough to have kids, don't have kids who have any interest in woodwork.

Consider yourself one lucky bloke. Hope you have many more good days together.

Enjoy it while you can, Fred. They don't hang around long before the novelty wears off. The best thing to do is to get them involved in a project of their own.

Wishful thinking. :D When they are young, you spend a lot of good time with them. Now our youngest is 21, we hardly see them (and he's still living here) :U

Occasionally, we'll have a beer on the balcony and have a chat. They are precious times.

But time in the shed ? Forget it. Too many girls to chase. :rolleyes:

Well it can go both ways.. I know my Dad is incredibly proud that I've taken an interest in the skills he taught me when I was knee high and shorter (There's a photo of me asleep in a wheelbarrow!). Problem is, that by the time he and I realised it, I am living on the other side of the world, so we do all our woodworking by phone... not as good as the real thing, but it hits the spot when theres no other way. I suppose I'm saying that you never know how or when you're inspiring someone, but if you can see the outcomes, you are truly blessed!

From one of the 'young' generation ( at least or another 25 days) I say, don't ever give up the chance to tell someone else what you're doing, and count the blessings you receive in return!

Me and my young bloke spet a bit of time painting some wood today then he cut it to the size I need with the powersaw. tomorrow we'll nail it up where we need it. It didnt take long and I've found it bettter not to take up a whole slab of his day.

my 5 year old girl decided to make mud pies in the shed with sawdust an water today while i sanded down some wood listening to the radio and chasing the horse out every 5 minutes that was great:2tsup:

My little precious, not yet three years old, grand daughter visited for 10 days last November - each morning was the same:
6:30 -7;00 am she'd call "Pa, wake up Pa. Can we work (or paint)", her father, my son, was not impressed .................................. but I was.
