Question; the 'ex' has asked me to find out where she can purchase some sort of hosey doohickey thing which will go on her washing machine so she can pipe the water straight from it, out the door and onto her lawn. She suggested it might be available from Wooworths/Safeway but the young aliens who staff the closest just looked blank upon questioning. Any hints please?
I've seen 'em in the local Thirfty Link catalogue. Try a hardware shoppe...
Hardware shop, looks like a little rubber funnel that you stick in the bend in the external pipe, just undo the big plastic (or metal) screw and fo9ld it up and put it in, fit a hose on the end and run it to the garden or wherever.
Might even have to venture to the big smoke (Mt Gambier) to find one.
Shop non-assistants at Woolies/Safeway always have blank expressions on their faces - hadn't you noticed?

Bunnings sell the thing you are after Stoppers, it is just an extension for the washing machine hose, costs $20 for about 10M.

look the best thing you can is a deverter valuve think 50mm it will cut strait into the pipe sysytem this makes it easier to turn off or on them funnel things don't look real good BUNNINGS have heaps!
a derverter valuve you can get from pumbing shops like reese buy the reducer conection to get to a hose size

Secondly you can pick up washing machine hose extentions from Bunnies or other hardware shoppe of your choice. Just make sure that it does not make the washing machine motor work any harder than it already does, ie dont let it try and push the water up a slight hill because the motor will object but not for long. On the other hand dont lay the hose on the floor, make sure it pumps to the height of the tub beside the machine or the water that is is the machine will drain out even if the washing machine has not finished doing its thing.

Have seen things called grey water diverters in Bunnings, might be the go:confused:

Your Ex may wish to re-think using untreated grey water on the lawn. Washing machine soap powders/liquids are quite alkaline which may burn the grass. Similarly, grey water runoff may severely retard and even kill native plants, azaleas etc. as these plants like an acidic soil. Perhaps there is a suitable brand of powder/liquid that could be used but, on the other hand, how good are they in cleaning clothes?
