safety switch wiring!!

Hi All,

Can anyone shed some light on the following-seems to be a couple different opinions on it........

When installing a 4 pole safety switch am I able to use 2 poles for the 2 power circuits and no.3 for the lighting circuit.Ther neutrals would then go in 4th pole???

NO!

Get a Sparkie to do the wiring - you seem to need 3 switches.

Multi-pole, multi throw switches will give you a fit of the gibbering twitches, but getting 240 volt wiring wrong can give you a case of the pine boxes. I've only worked with 12 volt stuff, dpst, dpdt, spst, spdt etc - but that was brain straining enough

SAFFA, it has been said before and will be said again - be careful. Just a quick bit of info:

2 pole RCD - protects single phase installation using an RCD protected neutral bar (not earthed by MEN link)

4 pole RCD - protects a three phase installation (ie 3 poles are for each active) the last for neutral

This is definitely not the sort of stuff that you can afford to get wrong... get someone in to help if you are unsure.... after all it is called a safety switch.
