I rented a Dingo mini-digger today. Great little toy. :)
I moved 12 cubic metres of gravel over the drive way. This would have taken me bloody ages if I did it by hand.
Not quite as good as a tractor but still fun.

Yep, I've used one on a few occasions now both for myself and at work

Absolutely great fun and would not hesitate hiring one agian. Although I have started to accumulate the parts to make one myself for when I build my next house. Gonna be lots of fun then:D:D
Oh, and the photo is me clearing the area for the shed I built at my last house. About an hour after this photo was taken 15m3 of deco turned up and I levelled it out with the dingo. All up took a day. Was so much fun, SWMBO had to pry me off the dingo about an hour after sunset!!
a bobcats lots more fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohh where's Squizzy when I need him!
Many, many years ago, when I was first in the humpy building game my construction manager came past one of my jobs as I had a Bobcat doing a clean-up.
In no uncertain terms he told me I'd be fired if he ever caught me with a Bobcat on one of my jobs again, adding that every time the wheels spin it costs $2.00 (in hire time).
From that day on, I've only ever used Drotts for site work unless there was absolutely no way of getting the machine in.
How much did it cost to hire, and how much would an operator have charged to do the same job with a Bobcat or a bigger machine?
Just curious. I know there's a serious fun factor there! ;)
I cleaned up my yard here with a largish excavator, assisted by Drott and two trucks. It was all over in a flash on day one.
My neighbour has been working for 9 days straight (so far) doing the same thing himself with a dingo, and I'm sitting at home gritting my teeth!
Cheers,
P (big is good whooo whoo whoo)
:D :D :D

Woodbutcher, if you're working in Toowoomba, where's the red dirt? You're either working in delivered topsoils or you're somewhere outside Toowoomba in this image, surely? :D By the way, Toowoomba has the best climate I've ever experienced.
That was at my house in Warwick before I moved, where there is no stinking red soil that stains everything it touches:mad:.Quote:

Well my arms and legs are fine. My back is a bit sore. I think that was from emtying 4 trailer fulls of the old gravel really quickly. I had to work fast as I only had the dingo for 8 hours.
I need to get a tractor me thinks.
