Garage roof problems
Dear all,
I have a garage with corrugated iron on top. It seems:confused: to keep the rain out, however the barge board and the about 6 inches of the fascia have been rotted out and will need replacing. The garage is about 25 years old. What I needed to know is what could be done to increase the life of the barge board and fascia (it was previously pink-primed and painted) and what sort of flashing (and how to install it) should I use between the roof and the barge board. Does anyone know where I can find out more about flashing as there seems to be precious little written about it? Grateful for any replies.

G'day Tiger, I've dug up some old printed pdf's on Lysaght capping and flashing, so you might be able to find similar with a google search. You probably need the plain barge capping. Was the timber hardwood or softwood? If you're using pink primed softwood, that stuff needs another primer coat applied before topcoat, and I would be painting all sides liberally before installation.
Cheers
