Disturbing your Piece

The doctors phone rang in the middle of the night.
"Hello,Is that the doctor? - This is Mrs Cook speaking."
"Hello Mary,what is wrong?Is it your chest again, or is it your husbands?"
"No doctor,we are both quite well."
"Then what is your problem?"
"Doctor,it is my dog.It has got coupled with my next door neighbours' bitch, on our front lawn.They are disturbing all our neighbours.We've done everything we can to separate them. Can you suggest something?"
"Have you tried pouring a bucket of water over them?"
"We've done that, doctor."
"Have you tried hitting them with a broomstick in the middle?"
"We've tried that as well doctor.Nothing has worked."
"Alright Mary,is your telephone cord long enough to reach the front lawn?"
"Yes doctor."
"Can you take the telephone and put it down on the lawn next to the dogs.I'll ring back in a couple of minutes."
"Why doctor,do you think it will work?"
'Well, I can't be sure, but it certainly DID WORK,for ME a few minutes ago."
