Durn kids bikes - enough!

The worst possible item to have to store in a workshop is a kids bike; hang it up and it'll hit you in the head or, worse, fall on you. Stand it up and it'll fall over on you and cut you. You can't win. For years I have carried these things in and out the garage so I can work but, today, I had enough.

They both fell over, trapping me in the middle. These things would make a darn fine mediaeval torture device, it took a while to get out and stop the bleeding. Then, a dark mood descended.

Out came the compressor hose, the pressure wash kit and the golf clubs. I washed everything, pumped up tires, scrubbed clubs and then threw the lot in the back of the ute. Ca$h Covertors took all three and, with the small amount of cash earned, I bought a Bostitch 18 gauge 15-41mm bradder.

It takes up a lot less room, and the kids can ride it whenever they like!:D:D:D

I used to trip over the blasted things all the time until we got an old garden shed to put the mower in. So now I chuck 'em in there but the old man goes crook everytime he has to get the mower out. Still, at least they're out of my way...

So you've given up golf too?

The kid's bikes I can well understand - but a chap needs his hobbies, so you've given the swatting of small balls into long bits of grass in favour of woodies stuff?

Why stop their. sell the shed and buy a tent... buy more tools then:rolleyes:

Judicious placement of said bicycles would have solved the issue without such drastic measures as disposing of the poor childs sole means of transport.:p
That's is what my Mum would say, however me I put up with 6 assorted competition BMXer's hanging around my ears, the minimum 2 per kid "streetbikes" at my feet, then there's SWMBO & my bikes, spare wheels, frames, forks etc. I've lived with it, but no longer I refuse to put up with it any longer, I'm revolting, so in the new home, they can jolly well stick them in their.................................................


bedrooms much more secure that way and they've been at me for ages to put hooks on the walls for them anyway.

Well he did leave them some old thongs after he sold all their shoes to get some new drill bits:rolleyes:

Yeah I hear you Redwood, remember when I was a boy, we were too poor to have such fancy things as shoes, we had to wear dinosaur feet slippers;) .

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a brown paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six o'clock in the morning, clean the bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down mill for fourteen hours a day, week in, week out. When we got home, our Dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!:o

Then they go and die out just at the beginning of the ice-age. Now THAT was a cold millenia, especially without dinosaur shoes...

couldn't the bikes get stored in the house somewhere? What are they doing in the shed? Wrong place IMO. :D

I love being an "empty nester". Not one tear was spilt by SWMBO or me.:D
