Restoring Stanley tote and knob

Hi there,
I've acquired a few old Stanley tools and in the process of restoring them.

I've scraped off the old shellac and removed the rest with metho to reveal the wood that is rather uneven in colour due to the staining of the old finish.

What's the best way forward for an even finish?
