Drilled into metal behind wall, have I upset structural integrity?
Hello..I was trying to mount a TV on my wall and thought I'd found a stud to drill in to. When I drilled I hit and went through metal and figured it was just a plaster support of some kind. Later realised it was actually a full-on reinforcing metal support behind the wall as it was 400mm out from the corner and this is the lower level of a two story townhouse, and the support shoots directly upward to the roof. My question is will I have caused any weakness to the structural integrity of the bar (stupidly did a second hole too, so 2 x 8mm holes). I'm guessing not but wanted to ask the experts, have learnt my lesson now and will get a stud finder that has metal detection. I've attached some photos of what I went into with a pinhole camera.
