I have a Savage model 24, over/under that has a real "beat up" stock. I would like to refinish the stock myself.
What is a good procedure to put a nice finish on a gunstock like this? I am doing it as a Christmas present for my Grandson, so I have a good length of time to work on it.

This might sound funny but the best finish is literally called "Gun Stock Finish" , my mate used to get it at the local guns & ammo store before it closed !Quote:
