A friend of ours from Melbourne was on her way to our house when
suddenly she realised she had made a wrong turn.
She stopped and asked a lady for directions. "Go back down this road
through a couple of traffic lights," she was instructed, "then stop
and ask someone else."
You neglected to add the mandatory,
"...and you can't miss it."
Many years ago, I worked a couple of times on a stand at the Showgrounds. It was in a central position and many came in looking for directions to other stands. The stock answer was "go out the door, turn left, then right, left again and you will be right there." Never sure where they all finished up.
Also missed the obligatory "turn left at the xxxxx pub"!

X-ray; - turn left, turn right, turn left, turn right and straight ahead. They will see straight through you.
The first part is what I tell them.
"Take the second last right hand turn before the end of the road"

Seriously, I was told similar when I was in the middle of Ireland by an old bloke who was cutting grass by the side of the road using what appeared to be an antique scythe.Quote:

Which is fine if you are not on the terminating road, bad luck if you are.
Than again, some people just keep going anyway.
Actually, it was intended to go through the "Terminating" road of the "T" and onto a dirt road.
Living in a country town meant that a lot of our work (kitchens,wardrobes) had to be installed in and around the area (Tamworth) The boss used to do the "repping" and the drawings for the jobs. When came time to install he would get out "the map". (hand drawn with some land marks. I don't know if it was because he was very left handed or what but "the map" left a lot to be desired. His list of land marks was generally correct but usually in the wrong order. A couple of times I sent blokes out of town they got well and truly "lost". Some of his turns one would find were the other hand.
