The crazy things we do for fun, and charity.
Gidday
In a few days time I head off to India to participate in a charity rally. 3400klm in a Tuk Tuk. For those that don't know, a Tuk Tuk is a three wheeled, two stroke, 7 hp vehicle that is commonly used throughout Asia as a taxi. They have a top speed of about 50klm/hr. These things are not designed for highway use!!!!
The event is called "The Rickshaw Run". It starts in Shillong in the north east, and ends in Cochin in the very south. We do the driving, navigation, find our own accomodation, arrange our own repairs (inevitable). We are pretty much unsupported. We have between 16 and 21 days to complete the journey. Sound crazy? Yep, it is.
There are two charities that benefit from our efforts. Cool Earth, and environmental charity that aims to save rainforests and a charity the we have nominated, SATHI. SATHI aim to help children who have been abandoned by their families, or have run away from home. Oft times these kiddies can be seen eeking out an existence on train platforms. A sad, sad life.
The reason for the post is twofold.
Firstly, I thought that some of you might like to follow our crazy adventure which will be full of danger, foolishness, laughter and peril. We have a Facebook page you can like to keep up to date with what is going on. Here is the link.
https://web.facebook.com/keepontuktu...homepage_panel
Secondly, on that page there is a link to a Go Fund Me page that we have set up. If you can see your way clear to donate, we would deeply appreciate it, as will our beneficiaries.
Get on board, tighten your seatbelts ( we don't have such luxuries), and give your smile muscles a good hard work out. It's going to be a wild ride.
We leave next Friday, the run itself starts on the 1st of August. One of our small team of three is a professional photographer so I can guarantee there will be great photography of incredible India as well as great videography.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
