Who am I: Number VIII
Who are we: Number VIII
Harry and Hermine.
We may be fictional characters.
My name is Harry. I am a bit of an introvert, loner, loser, disgruntled in life Ill suited to the frivolity and gay abandon that others seem so readily and easily able to practice. I wander the streets for anything better to do. I meet another on the street who gives me an essay that appears to describe my character.
I am seriously thinking of suicide.
Eventually in my wanderings I meet a young woman, who listens to all my tales of woe and grumpiness with the world. She tells me that the 'cure' for my miserable attitude is to become, at least for a while, as light-hearted, as callow, as shallow, as all the others around me in the streets. In pursuit of this 'cure' I meet a drug dealer and learn how to take drugs .... and find a lover .... and both are good for me.
I have been recognised by many diverse ..... famous peoples ..... famous groups ..... and institutions ..... since I first entered the worlds knowledge base.
You could, if you liked, call me the original Heavy-Metal-Harry

Not up my alley at all, but I shall cogitate, research, ransack the brain, peruse the literature, comb the files and see what comes out the waste disposal pipe!!:D:D:D

It is ... You know the book and the Author ... may even have read it. Don't be misled by me 'setting' the period/language.

A trivial clue: Many in the 60-70s turned me into an almost cult-like figure as they read deep meaning into my story. My Author denied that I had this in me and that the meaning wasn't there. (To no avail)

Second clue: a song released in the late 60s, and STILL played at wild and heavy metal parties today, as well as the radio, was a hit for a group inspired (obviously) by me. On hearing the first few notes of this song, everyone alive in australia in the 70s would know it, love it or hate it ... but know it.
Even your Grandma knows it !

Off the top of my head ( I haven't given this any thought at all except to admit it crossed my mind when I read the initial post ) the only person I can think of is HC.

Third clue: One group of people among us claim the above song as theirs. Its their theme song !!
(OMG .. I love this 'unable to google' ... :))

By the way, first thought was Holden Caulfield. Knew it wasn't so though as I didn't
recall him hooking up with any fmale and getting into drugs.
