I have some ceder veneer that I think is Curl veneer, i.e there is no straight grain. I understand that it's cut from the fork of the tree where the trunk divides. It is mounted in a quarter patten. What sort of sanding patten should I use in preparing the surface?
If it is from a fork that is called a crotch, for fairly obvious reasons.
Can't offer much except general advice as I haven't used crotch veneer myself. My guess would be that you follow the grain, in so far as that is practicable.
Most of the factory made veneer I've seen doesn't require a lot of sanding though so I would take it real easy. You don't want to sand through it.
I'd use a ROS with fine grit.
Just don't go crazy with the thing and keep moving!Quote:
