I am saddened by the loss of these, my colleagues. All they did wrong was go to work. :(

Unfortunatly the cops tend only to deal with the scum. Sometimes they need reminding that Mr and Mrs average can't imagine what it takes to be a cop and are bloody glad that there are people out there willing to do the job on our behalf - we know there is nothing in it for you.

Those that need your sympathy are the families that didn't chose the life of a cop, but had the life of the next of kin thrust upon them. I have a few friends that are cops and I still don't get the reason they go to work and put up with the crap they do, and I don't know where the wives get the strength to see them off each day .. and that goes double for my friend in the SOG.
Dan you don't have my sympathy - you chose the job, but you have my upmost respect and gratitude

Thank you all for your kind words. The job is not all doom and gloom. I get to meet people from all walks of life and amongst them you find some truly good people. I got a present for my new baby delivered to the police station from a woman that MrsP and I helped out a while ago. It was a really nice surprise and it is good to know that your efforts do not go unnoticed all of the time. I often say that 90% of the time they pay me too much for what I do. The other 10% you couldn't pay me enough for. (Although its probably 80/20 now)
