Anyone got one? Looks like I'll need one real soon, just got my visa to move down under. DIMIA has given me till September to get down there or the deals off. I'm planning on being there for a month in May. For now I have sooo much to do.

So whereabouts in Australia are you planning on going?

Which state are you moving too?
Mathew,
Congratulations!!
If you are coming to the Sunshine Coast (Maroochy Shire from your previous posts), look us up... you won't need a dictionary... ;) :D :D :D :D :D
Cheers,

hmm, A Canadian wants an English to Austarlian dictionary - that's a bit presumptious;). Maybe you need to go from Canadian to English and then from English to Australian.
If he wants a cheap fare maybe he could get himself shipped with the clamp order from LV. :D
Mathew,
I add my congratulations to Midge's, and hope the you will visit me in Elimbah when you are over in May. Elimbah is not that far from the Sunshine Coast.
As for your dictionary, I suggest you look up "Strine" on Google. In fact, I don't think you will have any more difficulty with our dialect that you would if you went to Texas.

Maroochy shire is where we have been accepted. My wife and I are under a fairly restrictive visa for the first 3 years. We have to live and work in the shire. Not a problem, it's where we were looking in the first place.
It's funny I live right now on the sunshine coast of western canada in the northern hemisphere and now will be moving to the sunshine coast of eastern Australia in the southern hemisphere. I'm gonna need a compass

Mathew,
Don't forget to bring your woolies down in May, it's pretty much Winter then and you can rarely expect the maximum temperature to get above 26°.
(We all wear jumpers in the photographs, so the Victorians don't know what they are missing!)
:D :D :D

Several years ago there was a paper-back available titled(I think) "Let'Stork Strine" by Prof. Alphabecklawder. You may still find a copy in an op. shop like the Salvos or St Vinnies.
Anyway I'm sure you'll manage very well once you get used to, and not annoyed at being mistaken for a seppo.
