Has anyone any rusty old barbed wire lying around they don't need? I'm after about 40 metres. I've previously found a few metres half buried in sand which was a thicker gauage than what's around now, it also seemed to be made of better steel than the new stuff. I don't mind how rusty it is, even if it's deteriorated to th point of being able to be broken by hand.
There are plenty of old farm dumps around here with it in. Bit hard to put into post tho.

Hey Spring...if you have trouble getting some rusty wire...toss some new stuff in a fire it'll rust in no time..(a bit of vinegar will speed it up a bit too)Quote:

How much barbed wire do you need, and when. I have about 400 metres of genuine ungalvanised and annealed to be available in the near future. The truth of the matter is that a couple of years ago (3/12) to be exact the hay press caught on fire and burnt it, about 10 acres as well as getting into 2 neighbours porperties. Singed the ancient boundary fence pretty well so it has to be replaced.

I need 40 metres or so thanks Ken but I'd take the lot if it's in your way, as long as it could fit into a car boot and/or the back seat. I can't see myself getting up to Kyabram this year, it's possible but mid/late January or Febuary seems more possible at the moment. I don't mind taking the wire off if it's still fixed if that helps?

The fence is still sort of standing. I will make some enquiries with the fencer as to when he can put up the replacement; and start dismantling the old one. Just have to work out how to keep the neighbours big black grass rats out.
I would not be putting this anywhere near the back seat of a car. It will shred several pairs of heavy leather gloves just dismantling; so imagine what it will do to upholstery.
I have 2 kids down that way; Rosebud and Tyabb, so we will work something out.
Maybe we could set some up outside the front door of 's shed.:D
