acceptable tie down/council inspection.

I have a cheat book on AS domestic construction which highlights some info on building. When I put my roof trusses on, I know I followed all the info given with regards to straps and bracing (to LVL's)
Now this trussed roof deck is becoming an open plan room (kitchen, lounge/dining) can some one simplify the tie down requirement
1. To the exisiting house/deck posts and corners now becomming a wall. (which doesnt have any that I can see what did they do 50 yrs ago?)
2. I spoken to a relo builder who's in Qld who said they have to use rods up there (obviously cyclones etc).
I know I used speedbrace on the trusses and triples and straps where specified.
Now Im building the upper level floor (removing deck and putting up I beams).
Council have also slapped on inspection for walls/joist and bearers so what will they be looking for (assume I get a narky one)?
I hope they allow me to get inspection for the upper level, then allow me to gyprock (live in the place and continue downstairs.)
