Original or Not ?

There is two rooms in the house we are buying that have no doors and there is an arch opening to each room. This arch doesnt seem to be consistent with the other rooms. All rooms in this 1921 house have doors. The arched openings to these rooms starts low, like it has been formed by adding it to the original height a door or set of doors would have been. I am wondering if these rooms ( both sitting rooms or drawing rooms ) would have originally had double doors ? The skirting boards end short of the opening.....maybe because doors used to be there and a facia was in that gap ?

If so, I wouldnt mind putting the doors back to what its meant to be. Closing them up in this way makes heating the rooms easier. Folding doors would enable opening up when needed.
