Where do I start

Hi all,

Just after a tip on where to start with significant renovation.

I have a pole home on a sloping block and want to change the roof construction at the front of the house.

Do I get the drawings of what I want done first, then have an engineer sign it off before council?? Or should the engineer have a look before I get anything drawn? How would he know what I want though??


Also at what stage does it cease to become organising trades for a renovation and become building where by a licence may be required??
