:confuzzled:I am constantly trying to work out, when our US cousins talk about volatile fluids, which of the liquids that we can buy is the one they are referring to.:banghead:

So I know that what we call methylated spirits they call denatured alcohol, but what do they call these:

white sprit
kerosene
mineral turpentine
GP Lacquer thinner
acetone

From memory, the Yanks call white spirits "Mineral Spirits."

Kero is just kerosene, but in the UK they call it Paraffin. (different to paraffin wax)

AFAIK, Mineral Turps & Acetone are called the same on both sides of the pond.

As for thinners... who knows? Probably thinners. Could also be called Toluene, Xylene or MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) depending on how specific they want to be... just like we do.
